Is this as simple as Turning with  the key to off point next to the Glove Box ?

 

Is there anything on the dashboard to indicate that it's actually off ?

Yep, just turn off with the key. When turned off you should ( If I remenber )  get a  Lit warning on the dash that the air bag is turned off

Yes, and there's an orange light that comes on in between the central air vents where it says 'PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF'  immediately underneath the hazard warning light switch
