Headlight bulb upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello,

ive got a 09 FL Octavia VRS. I have halogen headlights. It's that time of year when I need something better.

I have used google and seen some people have used London colour HID kits.

Had anyone had any experience or views on these?

Does someone have a link to what I need?

Im worried as I've heard stories of failing control units.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

night breaker +130% unlimited --that's what I use and my lights are plenty bright enough for standard uk roads

Before I had HID's on my Octavia, I used to use "off road" high wattage bulbs...

Better than night breakers, and never had a problem at MOT time.

Do you have HIDs now?

I have found a London colour kit on eBay. I think I need the non can bus kit.

I have vag com so can code.

Yeah, came as standard on my l&k, didn't retrofit them sadly.

I have the Nightbreakers, clean(ish) projector lenses and the front lights only set to 13.4v. That works well enough for me and I'm a long way  from anywhere bright.

I've fitted the London Colour kit and I'm very happy with it. Because my car is the Limited Edition with the facelift body control module, I decided to add some diodes in line with the bulbs to prevent any voltage reversing and killing the BCM. Apparently this can happen on the FL cars.
