just got myself a 2010 Fabia 1.6 tdi 105, horrible brown sort of colour hence a good price

I'll be hoping to keep it going for a good long time so tips on preventative maintenance will be very useful. I live on the West of Scotland where we get the double whammy of salted roads in winter, and salty sea air, so cars don't always last all that long. My last one succumbed to structural rust (sub frame) aged only 11 which is pretty poor.

Also I have scared myself witless researching this 1.6 engine and learning all about EGR valves and DPFs and the huge bills they can rack up. Eek!

So far I've been enjoying the wee car, it's quite gutsy really for a supermini.
