Hello from a soon to be ex-VRS owner...

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

Long time reader & thanks to all those who've contributed to some tech guides - you've all been invaluable at times!!

I posted this in the MK1 room as I wasn't sure where would be best so I apologise for the seemingly repeated post.

I'm looking for some advice from the forum as to what I should do with my VRS which has, alas blown it's turbo (I know, common as muck!)

Basically, I'm looking at a new car which will have to be anything as we need a car for work as the repair bill will outweigh the value of the car.  Before I consider scrapping it I wondered if anyone knows roughly what would be a reasonable value if I were to fleabay or Gumtree it as is?  Only thing wrong (that I know of) is a blown turbo and it's a lovely spec'd car which I'd hate to see go to waste.

2005 Red VRS, never been in a crash

All documents present (although I've just taken off my personal plate)

150k

Heated front seats, interior is un-ripped/worn through

Sunroof

6-disc changer

4 new Nexen tyres all round

Bluetooth Parrot phone/MP3

I put a couple of USB ports in the cubby hole so you can charge 3 devices at a time

Still got the VRS mats (the drivers one is worn through but the rest look new)

Air con blows ice-cold

Religiously oil changed with new PD synthetic oil and filters every year.  The last change was late-September.  It's only been doing £10k p/a at most since I've had it for the last 6 years

MOT till next June (2018)

Everything electrical works as it should.  Like I say, this would make a lovely project for someone and as a fellow enthusiast I'd rather it not go to the great car graveyard...

Comments welcome & Hi again!

Cheers.

Andy
