Back seats knock sound - help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm chasing a sound from the back. As you can image I drive and can't test real time - tried the belts, back arm rest, head rests, door and uppper handles, trunk stuff - reorganization and removal. Nope..

The symptoms are knock from back right on small bumps. Also everytime can be hear when I go to the underground garage - there is a right turn and down slope. When the car starts twisting I can hear the knocks.

Today I holded down the all the rear seats and ... no knocks any more.

My daughter says it comes from the seat belt mechanism somewhere, but can't be 100% sure of course.

Suggestions are more than welcome ;)

Also try fastening the rear seat belts before you drive. The noise may be the chrome buckles hitting the trim.

It could be the clip that the seats clip into when you have had the seats down and put them back up. A few have had a problem on the Fabia ii, they've just put a little grease on.

Or

Possibly the contraption skoda use to clip the seats in? That's near the seat belt.

@gregoir @LGM thanks guys!

I will focus on those. Will keep you posted.

Have a look at release latches used to keep seats anchored/fixed when they are up.  IIRC this was a commonly reported issue on the Leon 5F and the dealer 'fix' was to wrap tape/adhesive felt around the latches so there's no metal-on-metal knocking when the clamps are secure.

(Sorry I'm not sure of the exact part names)

I have exactly the same problem, am fairly sure it the latch that holds the seat back. have tried everything else.  Have not messed around with it yet, let me know if you make progress

@penguin17, thanks. I'm pretty sure it's around the locking mechanism, seats down for two days proved it.

I will try the tape fix during the weekend.

I guess you haven't seen my video. :)

The old sock is still in place and does a great job. And it has a perfect color. :D :D

I was too lazy to put some wiring loom tape (fabric tape) there. Probably would look better. :)

Issue is gone, similar to aki78 method.

Now I feel more relaxed. Thanks!
