RH Dash rattle

Featured Replies

Anyone solved a RH dash rattle noise issue?

Could be from the vent, above odments cubby or even the instrument area

Any chance it is something on your keyring? I'm not being a smartarse - I had a rattle that turned out to be a plastic supermarket trolley token that would sometimes vibrate against my keys.

wish it was - but no - KESSY

Check the wiring that goes around the inside of the dash. If you have some that is knocking against the plastics, zip tie if out of the way.

I’be had a rattle that I’ve mentioned on here before that was almost impossible to place the location of. Dash or driver’s footwell is one place it sounds like from in the car but it was actually the fuel lines which apparently ‘rattle’ against the chassis at idle.

Miggt be worth asking about at your next service if you’ve not tracked it down by then. Seems to a known issue with the B6 platform.

Cheers,

Steve

The large 8 x 5 triangular plastic panel at the end of the dash that is revealed when you open the door has been known to cause some noises in some owners cars.

AHA - not taken that off yet. Good idea

Might not be the dash, had a very annoying rattle/creak from the RHS, traced to the door pillar area.  After months of chasing it around it turned out to be a plastic clip on the seat belt rattling against the bottom of the seat.  Only happened when I was in and had the seatbelt on.  A couple of turns of wiring loom tape solved that.  Could be the dash end cover, I had the same on the LHS of the dash and ended up lining the edges with wiring loom tape to cure it from rubbing against the dash.  Similar creaks at the glovebox were cured with loom tape.......I now keep the roll of loom tape in the car in case something else appears !! :-)  Have a look at my 3 month update thread for pics...  Cheers

Thanks - it was indeed the fuse cover. Gave it a big wack with my fist and all the rattling stopped

Great, pleased that worked. I removed mine and put Vaseline around the edges to stop the rattling and creaking. It used to be much worse during winter, but is now silent.
