Pinking a bit??

Featured Replies

Hi

Had my VRs for a month now and done around 1300 miles from new. The engine intermittently seems to pink slightly when accelerating from slowish cruising speeds (say 35-45mph). Sometimes it lurches as if trying to catch up with itself. Being completely new to diesels, I don't know if it's my driving style, if I have a fault or if it's normal for a diesel to do this. it can happen anytime regardless of whether the engine is cold or hot. Any ideas???

Hi Suncat,

I have found a very similar problem with my 1.6FSI petrol Octavia. Did you every recieve a solution from Skoda?

it's not even techinally possible for a diesel engine to pink(pre-ignite) because the fuel isn't injected till the end of the compression sroke??

maybe it's a problem associated with the stuttering that some folks are suffering.. either that or a prblem with the map sensor

Hiya Suncat,

Welcome to Briskoda.

What gear is the car in and at what revs does this phenomenon manifest itself?

Pinking cannot happen with a compression ignition engine.

It sounds like you may be labouring the engine.

Maybe the Dual Mass Clutch is voicing it's displeasure,as well as the rest of the car.

mine (vrs) does that every nown again in first as its pulling away.

(as though im pulling away in second)....im not pulling away in second :)
