Only one rear fog light?

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I noticed recently that when I turn the rear fog light on, only the one on the left comes on. The one on the right (where the reverse light is found) does not seem to work. Is it just the way it is in the fabia or do I need to change the bulb / fix the wiring?

The way it is on many many UK / European Vehicles.  1 Fog light at drivers side or in the middle at the rear.

There are countries on Continental Europe that require 2 rear fog lights.

Yep... Single foggie, single reverse. You could get a euro left light, wire it up to the foglight wiring etc and then add a reverse lamp to the rear bumper. Of course, you could do the opposite and have two reverse, with a single rear bumper mounted fog, too. Might have to tell the insurer

You need to pull the headlights dial knob. One click for only the front fog lights, two clicks for both the front and the rear. Push back in to turn off.

Only one pull though,

as a Mk2 vRS has no Front Fog lights.

WHAT? Premium price and no standard front foggies? Tight fisted bar-stewards!

I get the one rear as it means a whole new set of lamps but front fogs...I have them as standard on my Greenline!

But yes, the Fabia has one reverse light and one rear fog. You would be surprised how often I get someone tell me one of my reverse lights/fog lights is not working. Usually the reverse as they come on daily, whilst fogs just a few times a year.

It never stopped Skoda from putting in brochures and on the configurator that there were Front Fog lights, and salespeople that were prepared to argue that there were and they still

advertise cars for sale from the Skoda spec as having front Fog lights.

Plenty other road users think the Stupid Bright DRL's are fog lights and even when they are dimmer and the Side / Position lights.

I hate the one fog , one rev light, so cheap and annoying.

Easy to add a second of "either" by just buying the LHD cluster, the problem is finding a "factory" look fog or reverse to go eleswhere.........Personally I would like the 2 rev lights in clusters and a centre fog "somewhere"....

Whats annoying to is the Mk1 had 2 of each

What is to hate, it is a rear fog light for when there is fog and the tail lights and rear reg plate lights are on as with many many vehicles,

drivers / off side or middle of the car in the UK.

Just a pity many never switch off rear fog lights once vehicles are behind and the visibility is obviously good as the rear lights are bright enough.

Rear fogs are not a Stylee fasion item IMO.

Who said they were a stylee fashion item ? I would rather 1 fog in the centre,

2 reverse lights are actually useful tho, especially as the factoy "1" is so dim and barely useful when reversing on that side....

and I agree, I dont think I have used my rear fogs yet since I have had the car, and I to hate those that use them in the rain,  but it def looks better , even when off when the light clusters are a match, its only like that because its the "min" required, any decent car as 2 of each.

You could fit a rear light from a left hand drive version and then wire up the bulb to match. Do this with either two reverse or two fogs and then add an aftermarket fog/reverse to the rear bumper, like many Japanese imported cars.

Yes adding the second of "either" is easy.....its the odd one thats difficult......jap imports always look rubbish with one slung under the bumper.

I dint mean the bolt on with a sh-illy bracket but the ones that have a kind of rubber seal that slightly contours to fit nicer. Still not the best looking but fitted nice and perhaps centralised or even a pair, will look ok if you must have a matching set of clusters.

I have been looking......not found the ideal thing yet.......

In actual fact on European cars the rear red light is a "Park" light for when you leave it in dark places. If you want more light when reversing at night simply put foot lightly on the brake. Will light up quite well. Been doing that for 60 years on cars with no reverse lights

One rear side light / position light on and one rear reg plate light and the same side at the front sidelight are the 'parking Lights'. Put the indicator stalk down to one side or another . Nothing what so ever to do with the Rear Fog Light.. some of us will have seen it had the light red and white lenses with a clip that went in the front window, you closed the window and plugged it into the Cigarette lighter socket. Parking light.

Ps. If you want more light for reversing putting on the rear Fog light is simply clever. After all your should not be doing it as anyone is coming towards you.
