ac delete. pd100 AXR

Featured Replies

hi folks.

Looking to AC delete on my pd100 AXR ibiza 6l for a few reasons

  • cracked pipe leading into compressor, been cracked for 3 years or more
  • to free up space and weightsaving

I'm not really sure what is the best way of doing this though.

I've looked online and seen a few potential set up involving a different tensioner and shorter -780mm belt. apparently this works with AXR, ATD and 1.4tdi engines

  • measuring around crankshaft pulley and alternator it looks like i'll certainly need a longer belt than 780 mm. For me it looks like roughly 980mm based on a bit of string

some diagrams show a belt straight from crankshaft pulley to alternator, no tensioner pulley. (again stating 780mm)

  • Maybe this would work with a longer 980ish mm stretch belt ?

I know people have done this but can't find any solid info, any help is much appreciated?

Thanks

tried a 995mm belt hoping the tensioner could take up the slack by pressing the grooved side (apparently can work) But belt is too long. may try a shorter one but tensioner may also need to be changed or removed, don't think it has enough movement to tense up a shorter belt properly.

Might still just try a 960-970mm belt. Measuring around cranshaft pulley and alternator pulley seems to be about 955mm (this is with string so can't account for belt thickness so easy)

Any clues much appreciated!

Let us know after you've bought about ten belts what size it turned out to be, alternatively take the old belt, cut it and wrap it round then trim it until the ends meet with the tensioner locked off, measure the length and buy a belt that length.

So much easier than guessing.

still got the old belt on it most of the time. Good point though!

Now looking at getting the non ac bracket and tensioner instead. Got part numbers just not sure where to find them for cheap yet
