Sound proofing

Featured Replies

Has anybody used any additional soundproofing? I have the 2.0 Ambiente and I find the engine noise a bit intrusive at 3-3.5K which means 85+cruising on the Mway to avoid the drone but the road noise is fairly significant as well. I am considering the kit from noise killers ~

Depends on the nature of sound-proofing you're after. If you want to reduce vehicle vibrations, then Dynamat (or similar from builder's merchants) will be best.

If you're looking for sound insulation, then layers of foam under the carpet are where it's at - Pink Panther loft insulation does the job well.

If you just want to stop hearing the drone (I have the 1.6 Ambiente, so know what you mean), then put a more powerful head unit in. Will easily overcome the noise then. :)

Nice idea, but isn't doing an engine swap a bit major?

;)

Extreme measures for extreme problems... :D

Speak to Funkyjutel, our B&Q soundproofing specialist. There is a thread somewhere detailing what he did and where he got it from.
