Windows NOT demisting climate control fault?

Hi newbie here, only just discovered this forum, I have a skoda rapid 2013 1.6tdi from time to time when I get in the car or even whilst driving, the windows will mist up, Ive tried putting the AC on to de-mist them but no luck, its as if the heater a actually condensating all of the windows, it is blowing hot air. what I have noticed is when I am parked up no matter what speed I have the fan on (AC ON OR OFF) the fan will run quite low, soon as I start driving the fan seems to speed up a little but still doesn't de mist the windows. Also when I start the car from cold I can leave it running for almost 40 minutes and the temp guage will not move until until I start driving and then eventually sit in the middle like normal. if I was to start the car and leave it running, is the temp guage automatically suppose to move? as in before driving? I use this car for work, and its becoming a major inconvenience, can somebody please advise?

1. In my experience, all the diesels we've had are really slow to warm up.

2. Don't use recirculate to demist. It keeps the moisture in.

3. Early 2012/13 Rapids leak a lot of water in. Check the door drains are not blocked and get a dehumidifier bag inside the car.

4. At 4 years old your AC probably needs need re-gassing.

it seems like along time for it to warm up before driving off, the recirculating is definetly off (ive tried on and off) aswell as ive already had the car regassed. as silly as it sounds where exactly are the door drains? i appreciate your advice. thanks

I have called an AC specialist tomorrow hopefully he knows what’s going on, it’s such a strange fault with the heaters blowing hot ai but actually misting all of the windows, luckily it happened to me soon as I came of the motorway slip rod

Not that unusual it depends on how much H2o (moisture) in the vehicle and in the Heating / AC system, outside temp etc etc.

Hopefully the A/C specialist knows your cars system well.

Is it all nice and dry inside your car, was the A/C operating and not disabled due to the outside temperature?

Yes the car is really dry on the inside but when I go to Denise the screen, it’s actually misting it even more, what I have noticed that it doesn’t do it all the time but when it does, it’s really bad, you literally can’t see out of the windows, I can’t think what maybe causing the problem.

my car is slow to demist when stationary but as soon as its moving the airflow through the car get the screen clear quickly.

The door drain holes can be found by gently bending the rubber seals on the bottom of the doors. The holes may have wax blocking them. there's a long thread about it back in 2014 or 15 on here.

Pardon my silly question, but just say for example if the door drains were blocked (I haven’t checked them yet) as in the doors had a bit of water in them, I don’t see how they would condensate the windows immediately, I really can’t begin to think what the actual problem could be...

Our Rapid fogs up easily and always has (owned for 3 years from ~6 months old).

Have checked all common things, like cabin filter, water retention, aircon etc. but it still does it.

Our Climatronic unit does have a fault code stored about one of the positioning motors which could be related. but everything seems to operate fine so I don't think it is.

Until you get it sorted maybe get some 'Astonish' Anti Fog Glass Cleaner or Fog X on the inside glass.

Sometimes the rubbish valeters / car sales cleaners use on interiors causes much of the issues with car glass.

Hi my car did the same my blowers stopped working climatronik. Only worked on first 3 modes. Tried a few guys to fix but not much help. Took to dealers the part is £1000.

Its on back order and can't get it any way but dealer wiped my old unit and installed new software now it works like a treat total cost £90.

Get it a scan from the dealer
