Temperature Blues

Featured Replies

Can any kind person  please point me in the direction of the thermostat on my 1.6 diesel Octavia Mk 3. Radiator icy cold after 20 mins idling.

Welcome.

No idea, but why leave a 1.6TDI Idling for 20 minutes,

not great for the PDF and the money wasted on fuel with regens.

How long to get the coolant to an indicated 90*oC if you actually drive it.

My Scout (2.0 tDi 150) doesn't really heat up sitting on the drive, it only really gets up to temp when driven. I would imagine it's the same thing. It does heat enough to thaw the windscreen etc very quickly (2-3 min) but the gauge doesn't budge 'til it's moving.

Fraid to drive it too far in case it's the pump. Got one of those Skoda warrantys, but I bet they will try to weasel out of replacing parts I have 50K on the clock and two months left on the warranty.

So no need for your to touch the thermostat then an possibly Void the Warranty.

Get the diagnosis done, and the repair approved.

A 5 minute run around the block is worth more then 20 minutes ticking over. IMO.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Thanks for the reply.
