Interior reading light above mirror

Featured Replies

I have a face lift 2014 SE.

In the cluster above the interior rear view mirror have an [dead] insect inside the light fitting behind the clear lens.

I have looked in the owners manual but cannot find any mention of how to access/remove the lens.

Any ideas?

Thank you Urrell. I'll have a look at how to get entry as I do not have the reading glass hatch.

The reading glass hatch is not touched.
Fold down the flap just below the sensors and microphone for access to 2 torx screws and that drops down.

You might be able to get a Live one under warranty,  I'd ring the dealer.

If/when I get him out I'll check to see if he has a serial number or barcode. I don't think it is an 8 pin/leg version. I'm sure customer service at Skoda might be able to identify the part.

Insects were not standard in the 2014 SE spec.  Optional extra, Colin?

Time to stock up the Corner :giggle:

I've heard that with VCDS you can increase the options to include Spider,  cockroach, caterpillar, moth, silverfish and death watch beetle,  and even larger species such as mouse,  hamster, gerbil and rat,  though these require the addition of a larger roof pod.  If you replace the panoramic sunroof with the optional maxi roof pod available from Superskoda, VCDS can even be used to enable cat, dog goat and muntjacs.  "Simply Clever" (WARNING!: The elephant setting is not recommended for use in the UK due to the limited headroom beneath many British bridges.)

@eribaMotters - If it's got 8 legs then either it's a dead spider (in which case you may get all sorts of electrical problems) or it's non-standard in which case I think a dealer may just claim that it's not covered under warranty! ;)
