Broadspeed vRS

Featured Replies

Morning All,

Has anyone used Broadspeed for their new car recently? I have been looking for a vRS 4x4x Htachback with a few extras and new seems to be the only option. Broadspeed appear to be a good £1500 cheaper than Carwow and i tried my two local delaers to beat them down with the cheapest Carwow price and they weren't interested!

Not Broadspeed but I did use DriveTheDeal a few years ago to purchase a new car. (they were cheaper than Broadspeed).  None of the dealers within 50mile radius of home could get within £2000 of DTD price so after many years of debating whether or not to go thru the broker route, decided to give it a go.

The actual process of buying the car went without a hitch - very impressed. Collected car from a dealer at the otherside of the country - just meant a £36 flight from Scotland to Gatwick and a £17 train ticket to Ashford.

Would I go thru a broker again? Well yes, but I wouldn't buy a car from a dealer so far away again. The problem is thru no fault of the dealer the car turned out to be a lemon. Despite best efforts of local dealership to repair car under warranty, the car remained problematic. The manufacturer wasnt going to resolve the issue therefore it's a straight fight between the seller and the buyer - it meant having to take the dealer to court etc. The process would have been easier had the dealer been relatively local.

Like everything there are advantages and disadvantages to buying via a broker.

I live near Ashford so ill probably get a Scottish dealer!

Apparently they deliver the car but as it's a cash price it's not the normal Broadspeed deal so they act as the buyer and seller although i'm the registered and first keeper they state. It requires a £1500 deposit and the balance 2 days before delivery so i'm trying to see if anyone else has had the same process through them. As it's about £1800 cheaper than the best offer elsewhere (Carwow), it's a fair chunk of change to save.

It's a bit of a con that all the best deals are finance but i can see why. Unfortunately, i'm recently self employed so they wont touch me despite the fact i have the cash!

You wouldn't believe how true that is - I believe if you order a SEAT, it's a dealer in Inverness who submits the best prices at the moment. My horror story was with JCB Honda in Ashford. I believe JCB also have a Skoda franchise in that part of the world? you could be very lucky. The biggest con of the lot is that after I purchsed my car I kept looking at JCB used car deals and they were charging £2000 MORE for exactly the same used car/colour with 7000 miles on the clock than I had just purchased brand new. I don't know how these things work but I saved a packet. And as it turned out it was cheaper and less stressful to simply trade the car in than finally going to court. It's easy for people to say take someone to court or the law is on your side...  they've obviously never looked in to the process or taken on the gamble. Because I went thru a broker I was able to p/x a year old car with little financial loss which could be seen as an advantage for cash buyer?

I'm in the same boat, cash buyer. The deal from DTD was the same when I purchased my car. I know what you say about finance but in my experience, the price tends to match the finance incentives when you say I'll buy the car from you right now if I can have the same discount.  Where I loose out on is other incentives, like free servicing but just remember the higher the discount for finance. NOBODY is going to give you their money for nothing in return.

Both of the new cars I've bought (the Octavia being the 2nd), I've got a quote from Broadspeed and walked in, got the dealer to go through all the options and then told them what price they had to beat. On the Skoda they actually offered us about £2k less than the Broadspeed price so it was a no brainer. On the other car they matched it. I don't get why other dealers won't match it...

As for warranty, If it's a manufacturer you should just be able to take it to your closest dealer - they fix it and charge Skoda instead of you? I've taken the Toyota to different dealers and they just insist i prove its been serviced correctly and then do they work. Maybe I've been lucky though!
