Stuart,

Welcome, Skoda UK as importers are the only true source as to whether a 130 PDI will be definetly be available in this country, however in the home country the 130PDI is being launched in January 2003 in a wider model range so in my opinion it will probably be available in this country in the future. You have to remember in home sales in CZ the PDI engine is already available in the 4X4. It seems by reading the CZ media release as though both TDI and PDI engines will continue to be options in CZ. Which could mean Skoda UK if they decide could continue to import only TDI's.

A similar message was coming out of Skoda UK when the RS combi was launched in CZ but not in the UK.

The Czech press media report is as follows, but remember this is only the English translation of the CZ press release, and is not necesarily what other importers of Skoda vehicles will have available or request.

As a slight deviation...the 4x4 with the PD130 or PD150 unit would of been quite tempting to buy over here. Of course thats knowing what I know now i.e. a PD130/150 block can easily get over 307 torque with 180 BHP, but it's diesel...but dam that torque.

From what i can gather I would be surprised if the PD engine doesnt appear this year sometime in the Octavia , I'm pretty sure this was mentioned on the 'Bouncing Czechs' webforum sometime last year , and i have a vague memory of a salesman at my dealer telling me they would be getting that engine , but of course thats not definate! Sorry if this doesnt help you , but im sure if and when there is any more news RE this , or any other updates to the Skoda range , someone will have it posted up here pretty damn sharpish!
