Hyundai i30

Featured Replies

4 years ago I rejected the i30 as a brand new choice, on the grounds of its cheap ugly interior and awful switch layout. Today I did 200 miles in the current one, a well specced diesel. The outside is very bland where the last one was extravagantly curved. At first I could not guess what it was, Focus? Ceed? The diesel is quite slow and only managed 52 mpg on the motorway trip. The interior is better, but marred by a satnav that looks like a £30 i-pad knock off sticking out of the dash top. However, both front seats were awful, with poorly positioned headrests giving both of us sore necks and upper backs.  The car is a lot better than it was in 2014 , but still not for me at all.

I'm guessing it was an SE Nav from the spec, so that's 21k I'll not be spending:D

A foreman for a  contractor we use a fair bit in work got a 2016 i30 van as his latest company car. He hates it as it sits so low to the ground, a high speed bump can be a challenge.

Hed go back to his prevous auris any day..

Worth noting they do a lot of rural work - fencing, tree felling etc , so ground clearance is a genuine concern for him! The gang have hiluxes, but hes got promoted above that now :D

Bit of a rubbish promotion if a suitable vehicle does not come with the job, there are Hyundai with AWD and a bit of clearance that probably cost not much more to a company for business use.

I had a 2009 Hyundai i30 1.6TD Auto on lease and it was great until the first snow arrived and i could not get out a car park and up a slight off camber slope. The TC could not be switched off.  Each time i was getting a move on forward it would nip a brake and then put me off the track.

So i ended up reversing out.  Then that was the same that winter and it was not used much and returned after 6 months when the wheels needed replaced for the 2nd time and the discs.

Went damn well on good roads when the A/C was switched on, (a sort of boost button on overtaking  lanes where there were crawler lanes) and then it also went a bit better after i found out to pull fuse 22 which seemed to inhibit some limiter from limiting..
