2011 octavia 140bhp running cold

Featured Replies

Dear all

Bought this estate last year and it runs very well. I live in Devon so not a lot of cold weather. Had a cold spell in November and the engine hardly warmed up. ie 60 degrees.

The garage put in a new thermostat but this morning a thick frost was on the car and I drove some 60 miles and the gauge didn't get above 60 again.

Thermostat could be faulty. Apparently the old one was jammed open. Maybe it doesn't generate enough heat in the cold. I doubt that somehow but has anyone else had this problem?

I’d replace the coolant temp sensor there known for failing

I'd second this.
