Vrs performance prob

Featured Replies

Hi,

my 51 plate Octy vrs has been playing up a bit recently, I first noticed a lack of power throught the gears then the car hunts for a rev range at idle at times between 800 & 1400 RPM. The car is a little lumpy in the cold mornings.

An engine light came on for a couple of days two weeks ago, and I got it to the dealer who have diagnosed a throttle sensor problem and I awaiting the parts.

My question is could it also be a Maf problem (I have a pipercross induction Kit)

and also looking t the coil's there is aq bare wire cgoing to the first coil pack cover is split!!, could this have an adverse effect on the cars performance?.

I would like a heads up for when the dealer gets the parts so I can ask them, to check out the Idle/cold morning/performance issues.

P.S I did think the performance was just me getting used to the car after 3 months, then I borrowed the wifes 1.0 12v corsa to go to the shops and though wow this is quick, now I know my octy is sick.

regards

Neal.

Sounds like a MAF problem to me esp as the car is doing whats called hunting in the cold morning this is the lumpy irratic tick over as it trys to find the correct fuel air mix....you would probably find it woudl not be as bad with the standard filter and box on but dont do that a resolve get the MAF out and first try cleaing it.. if that fails repalce it... while your at it do the broken coil better safe then sorry..
