Octavia 3 2.0TDI oil exchange Shell

Featured Replies

Hi I was confused about mixed information about oil changes in my Octavia 3 from 2016r. with 2,0 diesel engine. I called Skoda they said it is written in radio setup options when I should change oil, so I have checked it was around 30 000 km. Pretty long I thought especially that in my previous VW CC with the same engine service said 15 000 km. But I noticed Skoda now reccomends Shell instead of Castrol so I have called Shell. They said that their best oil is 0W40 for this engine but they cant obviously reccomend anything but for their experience at least 20 000 km oil should work inside engine.

So I bought Xado oil 5W30 + Xado Stage One Ceramic (into oil and also gearbox) and ..... wooooooh I never use again Shell or Castrol oil. My car works and speed up like crazy, engine works calm and light. Skoda feel each little touch of the power button. I am extreemly happy.

15k km is the max interval on fixed service regime, 30k km is for variable.

AFAIK the only VW approved Shell oil which meets 504/507 spec suitable for a MK3 Octavia diesel is a 0w30 product. This is the Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L.

Never heard of Xado, guessing you are outside the UK. It's not a common oil brand seen here.
