Can anyone advise on decent front mats for Octy 2 hatch, preferably carpet type? Skoda seem only to do them in sets of all four, at neary

Just got a set of mats on ebay for the Superb. Lots to choose from...paid 14£ plus £ 8 for parcel force. Am sure Octy are there too?? No boot liners though for the Superb...looking for a decent one. Something tailored rather than the Halfords trim to fit jobs? ANy pointers welcome!

But what about quality? If the Skoda mats are excellent, go for them! £40 is not excessive if they're top qualiity. But all too often they're mere felt skims which wear through rapidly.

Has anyone a direct experience of the Octy2 Skoda mats? Interested, as ours should be arriving in a few weeks' time - anything which can improve comfort and cut down noise will be welcome...

Also considering SoundKiller - see separate thread.

Octy I mats seemed pretty good to me :)

Just Google "Tailored Skoda Floor Mats" to see what is on offer.

Go for a full set, which at £40 is not a bad price and at least they fit correctly, mine came from a firm called Unique.

When you have just paid out thousands why get concerned about £40 to protect your investment?

I agree in a way, but also having paid around

Tealeaf, thats the same person that was selling the Superb mats wasn't it? I was tempted by them myself, as mine are getting a bit grubby now.

You had a good buy there! (EDIT: Just seen that they've put another set up!)

All the Best

Chris

P.S What Superb have you got?

My Oct 2 also came with four mats - reasonable quality black carpet with rubber backing and bound edges. The drivers mat has OCTAVIA embrodded on it. As steviec says they've got plastic clips to hold them in place. There's no additional reinforcement for the drivers heels so it will wear through with time.

Mine came with a full set of mats as standard. Well impressed with them as all four have the dual fitting clips.

That's interesting! Mine's an Elegance too, have they changed the spec? What year is yours?

Ordered mine when they first came out the 2.0TDi that is and took delivery just before Crimbo 2004. The mats don't have Octavia on them though but are otherwise as described.

Had to order the mats for my new octy separately, didn't come with the car. Chose rubber ones from Skoda dealer, fit beautifully and cost £22 for all four. Chose rubber mats because we live on a farm and they are easy to clean. Had carpet mats in previous car and rubber ones in car before that. For our lifestyle rubber ones are more beneficial. Have to confess we didn't realise a set of mats didn't come with the car, ordering the mats was an after thought.

Hi Tiptronoc (Chris) Yes well pleased with the purchase. I bought these to put on top of the ones that came with the car in a bid to protect the original Skoda ones (clips securing ones). Got mats thrown in as part of the deal along with flaps and a full tank (We are tight here in Belfast!!) If the dealer isn't whingin' you haven't beat him down enough!!

Mine is a Sept 05 Elegance 1.9 TDi.130PD ..all the toys incl (I just got it...was a Skoda demo and just realeased...no Tiptronic though :(

Hi Chris

sorry just posted that I did mean Tiptronic not Tiptronoc!!! Bit early in the morn for me!

"The car mats sets are' date=' cut and styled, using a 830grm tufted nylon carpet. This carpet is so thick it does not require a heel pad."

Pity - rather liked the idea of an ally heel plate.[/quote']

Personally I prefer carpet to hard heel plates, as the rubber ones can mark the backs and heels of your shoes. Perhaps you chaps don

Hi Tealeaf

Mine came with the car, also a dealers demo. Getting a bit grubby now though. I was tempted by the ones that were on Ebay the other day, went for a fiver plus P&P, and peterc10 had a bargain there. I'll keep my eye out though.

You mentioned you were after a boot liner, is that a rubber one, or carpet type? There's rubber one on Ebay, £39.99+P&P.

Tiptronic box was a must really, as SWMBO's health meant a manual was no longer an option. Dying to try a manual version though, just to see the difference in pcik-up. Torque figure is a lot higher on the auto though.

All the Best

Chris

Cheers Chris

Taking a look on ebay now...rubber mat preferred. Been offline for a week or so, sorry for the delay in acknowleging your reply.
