Services and prices

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been done to death but just got a new 1.4 SE L and am trying to sort out the best deal for services for the next 3 to 4 years. I contacted my local dealer who offered me a 4 year contract that comes to £1655 for everything they say I need. When I look on the skoda website they seem to imply that services should be £159 for interim (every 1yr/10,000 miles) and £279 for the major service every 2 yrs/20,000 miles.

I cannot understand why the dealer is saying that the 3rd year would be £269 and the 4th year £375.

Any help would be great

Graham

Is your car on fixed or variable servicing? Those prices only apply to fixed, and my local dealer likes to charge considerably more for variable - probably as they will get the vehicle less.

Secondly, those fixed prices only officially apply to vehicles over 3 years old. Plenty on here with younger ones have managed to get the same price via their dealer, but it's not a given.

It usually goes minor major minor major, so that does seem incredibly expensive for 4 years of servicing. The average for each service is £400+ when at least 2 of them are probably nothing more than oil + oil filter and maybe the pollen filter being changed.

Ask them to confirm what each service includes. Presumably brake fluid is included in year 3 as this is when due and usually £59.

Thanks Ahenners

I was told that my car is set up for variable but that they would recommend going to annual due to mileage I will do. Along with the prices for the services they have included as extra to the standard service which I showed in my first thread are 2 lots of air con service and refresh; 2 MOT; 1 brake fluid and 1 DSG gearbox service.

Almost definitely won't need 2x Aircon service and refresh. 1 at the most and unless it's not particularly cold then I'd say if doesn't need 1. Mine's 4 and a bit now and to my knowledge it hasn't had an Aircon Service.

DSG gearbox Service is an interesting one. You mentioned you have a 1.4, which is almost definitely going to be the dry clutch gearbox which doesn't require servicing every 40k (like the wet clutch box).

Thanks again

This is why these forums are so good as there are really clever people willing to help. I will not be going with the contract with Telford and just look at my options, wonder if kwik fit etc would be as good as the local dealer.

again thank you Ahenners

I doubt you’ll find anyone on any forum who’d recommend Kwik-Fit over any other option.

good point, was using as an example but good to know to keep away. I will do some research as to what i can do. I may just keep to variable and go to a Skoda dealership within this area, think there are some more in Cumbria and Dumfries area to have services done when the car says so!!
