Door mirror pod removal/replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how easy it is to remove the colour coded pod on electric mirror please?  Mine is scuffed  and I was thinking of getting one of the mobile "scratch repair" guys to have a look at repairing, but if its easy to pop them off and get a new one, might try it myself.  Also, can anyone recommend supplier, other than main dealer price please?  Thanks

Hi, I found a seller on eBay that delivered new, painted pods/covers for around £30. All they needed was the paint code and which side you need. I DID have a small flaw in the paint but when I emailed them, they sent out a replacement for the replacement. I now have  great new one and a slightly flawed spare one... To this, I would most likely suggest replacement rather then repair as it may be cheaper and you will still have the old spare!  If you can't find the seller, let me know. As for removing it, the front plastic "Bezel" Has to come off first by gently prising it with plastic trim removal tools (Safer the metal screwdrivers, etc) Then gently prising the top piece off. It may be worth removing the glass too, to avoid smashing it but I am sure its not essential. Pop it back together by hand, making sure the electrical plugs are still attached to the glass.

The main dealer will almost certainly be dearer for the part and I was quoted £70 or so, just to paint it!
