Canton Specs???

Featured Replies

Anyone know the power output of the Canton amp?  I know it is 570w and 10 channels and I've found out the sub uses two channels (presumably bridged).

I possibly have the opportunity to get an 8inch or 12inch sub so I'm trying to work out it is just a case of unplugging the 6.5 canton sub and plugging in the other sub or whether I'll need a separate amp.

Does any of that actually make sense?

Any help appreciated.

Amps for the sub is 2x100w @ 8 ohm.

The problem is the impedance. If you go lower (as 4 ohm nominell)  the amp will probably go into protection and shut down.

The best solution is to find two subwoofers with 2x 4 ohm Voice Coils that has high sensitivity, and connect the two voice coils in series per amp channel.

Another solution is to use woofers that are 8 ohm, and then normally not an car sub.

I'm just testing out 2x Peerless 12"-8 ohm in my car, connected to the original amp and that is working really good. The drawback is that two 12" woofers take up a lot of space in the boot
