Looking at purchasing a Fabia VRS on Sunday

Featured Replies

hi all,

Looking at buying a Fabia VRS on Sunday MK1. I previously had an Ibiza FR with the same engine and it was great. Looking at the parts as well and they're insanely cheap compared to my Alfa which has cost me £5,000 in repairs.

the one I'm looking at has had 2 owners, done 152k miles but has had the following work + lots more:

Clutch & DMF

Turbo

Alternator

Cambelt

All in past 20k miles.

What else do I need to look out for? I assume except from these parts, there aren't any other big bills really? Or is that a stupid statement. Seem to see so many with crazy mileages! The only other thing I've read about is the head gasket, is this a common fault and how much to replace / fix?

Are the Injectors an issues on these? On the GT I think mine were starting to go at 114k miles!!! I seem to see used ones for £45 so are they a quick swap or is it a pain in the bum job? Is a carbon clean worth it in these? It made a big difference in my Alfa.

What other things do I need to look out for except the leaking rear doors?

He also said that there's an EML light on which is error P0672, glow plug 2. Apparently it came up a couple of years ago and has come back again. seems like a loose connection because of the harness? Is this an easy fix?

the car has been serviced every 10k miles. The turbo seized but apparently nothing was ingested by the engine and it all caught in the intercooler pipe which has been replaced.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
