Vibration on Acceleration

Featured Replies

My garage has just removed the gearbox on one of my Ambiente TDIs and discovered that every bearing appears to be shot. On further examination the flywheel was inspected(part of the clutch on some VAGs) the centre which should float appears to have collapsed and jammed off centre,so little wonder that gearbox has said enough. On trying to order the flywheel some wild prices appeared with Skoda dealers coming out worse, Europarts and G & S do not stock the parts the best price coming from our local VW dealer

One of my colleagues has had a similar problem, although the gearbox was unaffected. Symptoms were whole car vibrating, as if pump timing was out. New flywheel fitted under warranty f.o.c. He was also quoted similar figures.

I have vibration whilst accelerating at present - since I had new front tyres fitted - am 95% convinced it is the balance buit am getting a little scared now ! ;)

If the vibration wasn't evident before the tyre change, go back to wherever fitted the tyres and ask for the wheels to be rebalanced. I am of course assuming that you did have the wheels balanced when the new tyres were fitted.

Yep, did have them balanced, just haven't had time to go back in yet - 20k service due in 2 weeks so I'll get it sorted then. :)

Thread just got me 5% paranoid ! ;)

Wheel balance vibration should be more evident at a steady speed than under acceleration, vibration that we had was felt on acceleration at about the 2000-3000 rpm range hope this clarifies.
