Hi guys,

 

Having a bit of a problem with my 2005 VRs.

 

When the car is left overnight, I go to start it in the morning and the battery light comes on and the power steering is off. Once I rev the car, the light disappears and the power steering comes on. If i turn the steering wheel, turn on the fans, interior light etc with the main beam on, it causes it to flicker. 

 

I tested the the battery and it was around 13.6v. I tested the alternator and it was around 12v at idle but went up to 14-14.5v when revved. 

 

Has anyone experienced this? I'm phoning the garage on Monday but I'm intrigued as to what's wrong.

When I start the car, the battery light comes on and stays on until I rev it out? Would that mean the blue wire is still intact, if it's displaying the battery symbol?

Not necessarily. See if it comes on with ignition only.

No it doesn't mate, I'll get underneath it tomorrow when I've got some light!
