Just the right roads for the UPGTi

Mine excelled on the coastal roads in Devon & Cornwall recently.

  • They look fun   but £13k for a tiny car is abit much for me.    Theyll be good on the used market in a year or so imo.

  • There will be plenty to choose from if VW keep on producing them. 1 careful more mature driver, or dealership / media car and one private owner.

Has production of Up! GTI's stopped?

Now a future classic of limited numbers.

EDIT

Well not that limited really.

I'm keeping mine George, classic or not.

Production stopped about March 2019 I think.

A few new / pre-delivery reg available / demos still at dealers. Residual will be enhanced over time.

Good honest used one George. Just waiting for you to do a DSG conversion ,first one in UK.

I used to own a Lupo GTI 6 speed. Loved that little car. Low mileage versions are still worth a fortune

Said Lupo

had a bastuck exhaust, coilovers and mk4 anniversary golf seats

the UP seems a bit disappointing in comparison

lupo 125bhp and bi-xenon headlights

UP gti 115bhp and halogen headlights

Base selling price if new at today's prices. I would suggest way over £15k currently UP GTi.

Some body,I believe it was www.volkswizard.co.uk did an equivalent, think it was mid £20k he also did a comparison ,Good and bad of the two cars. Andrew is a GTi specialist.

Would still take the lupo personally lupo gti looks cool UP GTI looks a bit like a rollerskate with the big wheels. I still don’t mind the UP GTI but just can’t see it becoming a classic like the lupo.

the lupo had aluminium bonnet and doors to reduce the weight? Does the UP?

does the UP have 5 or 6 speed as the later Lupo’s got the 6 speed box. The engine was also quite fun as it had VVT and you could notice a slight shove when going up the revs. Nothing as crazy as a VTEC or VVTL-I but still there and fun.

lupo rear discs UP drums. Just been a bit of cost cutting

i’ve always been n/a over turbo

So mine has just indicated that in 600 miles it is due its 1st service. currently at 8900 miles in 11months.

Loving it to bits and having great fun around Wiltshire , Somerset ,Devon and Cornwall twisty stuff country roads.

Wiltshire to London  M/ways, A BS and city centre (London ) N & S circulars.  Fun drive , good performance  economic

Never a dull moment in this well engineered package at a cracking price-new./ cheap to run , what's not too like,

So now VW will be re-launching a facelifted Up GTi in 1st quarter 2020 after ending production of my model year in mid 2019.
