Second service, No reversing screen or Radio v.4

Featured Replies

I got the Yeti out yesterday, to go up to Bromsgrove, No Radio, No Reversing screen again.

About halfway there the radio came on and later the reversing screen was available.

The plug in lcd voltage display is showing battery at 12.7v at the moment, I have a feeling

that the 12v supply is faulty in some way. I shall have to monitor this closely.

Sounds like the voltage had dropped to protection level and they came back on because it was charged sufficiently whilst driving.

How old is the battery and does it do lots of short trips?.

Hmmm, my Yeti is only 9 months old and still I very occasionally lose radio display and reversing screen, nothing suggests the battery is anything but healthy. This problem affects many vehicles in the VAG stable and some say it can be resolved by a software update. I will see what the dealer says when it goes in for it's first service in March.

At the moment I solve the loss of display by switching off, removing the key, waiting 20 seconds then re-starting. Only once has that not worked but after driving 3 miles I stopped for a paper and on restarting everything was back to normal.

However, as I say, it is a very rare occurrence about once a month.

Battery condition/voltage is irrelevant if the engine is running.

I’m certainly no sparky beyond getting a new battery as a potential fix.

It’s happened once about 3 months ago on my 6 month old car.

As above turned off removed key, waited a few seconds and then it all worked next time.

I am sure it is a software bug and sometimes that part of the system just fails to start correctly

Second half of 2015 they issued the 2016 a week later! So the battery should be fine.

Mostly long runs and charged with a C-tek 5amp smart charger when not being used.

Half the job is eliminating what’s NOT faulty to start with.
