Skoda Fabia Engine Exchange

Featured Replies

Good Afternoon

im hoping someone could clarify something for me, I have a Skoda Fabia 57 Reg 1,4 tdi PD 51kw the engine has just recently seized I was driving and all of a sudden a red oil can flashed up on the dash and it was beeping and the engine came to a stop. With the car stopping in the middle of a busy road, so I waited a couple of minutes and it started back up but sounded like a bag spanner’s I managed to get the car home I was also low on diesel at this point thinking it may have ran out. So I check the oil when I got home there was plenty in could of done with a touch up but nothing major so I got some oil and diesel put the oil in and the diesel tried starting it back up and it fired but sounding really rough and 20 seconds later died i therefore had my mechanic look at the car and the engine has seized :/ so I’m now looking for a second hand engine the engine code on my car is BNM Ive been looking on ebay and there are engine codes AMF, BNV can I but a different engine with a different code into my Car does the wiring loom and the ECU connect up straight away or would it all connect up but put the car in limp mode.

if someone can advise me please

thanks

Bad luck dude, the 1.4 PD engines are notorious for doing this, you really need the same engine code since different engine codes have different power outputs and likely have differences in cam profile and compression ratio as well as the turbo which will screw up the mapping.

Yes !!! Tell me about it absolutely gutted the engine was only on 73000 nothing for a diesel :/  that’s fine thank you clearing that up if I was to do the swap with a different engine code I would buy the engine with all the ancillaries but then it gets me thinking if the ecu will match up ? Any ideas or should i scrap the whole idea and buy same engine code which seems to be a lot more expensive :s

The ECU will not match, get the same engine code or you risk it not working properly.
