Phase 2 Clio V6 255

Featured Replies

Anyone had one of these?

Or know anybody who has had or has got one.

Test drove one last week, and am driving another one on Thursday.

Black in colour,looks stunning.

Have found out they only brought 347 Phase 2's into the UK.

Might have a new motor by the weekend if i can get a good deal!!!!

Hi

Not driven one, but as you are in the market for it, there is a used one (Silver) on a dealers forecourt on the A127 Londonbound side, Between the A130 and A132 Junctions at the top of Pound Lane. The guy behind it (John Mowatt) on the corner is one of the best mechanics you will ever get to work on your car as well.

yes i see what you mean.

i had a 182 for a few days last year and i absolutely loved it i have to say,so much so i will buy one,one day.

But i love the idea or the Phase 2 V6 because they are so rare and you never see them.

That appeals to me alot.

There is a greta thread on here somewhere about one - photos of it as it goes up in flames ;)

ok im confused I always thought the V6 was loads quicker than the fastest (unmodded) 2.0litre clio ???

anyone got any specs of the 2 cars in question

weights

0-60

top speed

BHP

Torque

etc?

IIRC the 255bhp Clio V6 did 0-60 in less than 5.5 seconds, and the Clio 182bhp does it in like 6.4 seconds or something?

Speed is not everything. We cannot drive 10/10ths on the road, so the driving experience is more than just how fast a car goes. It is how it makes you feel.

Lets face it, most front drive in line four cylinder engine cars are pretty bland as drives go. Sure some (Renault Clio 172/182 derivatives, Honda Integra typre R for example) are spectacular fun when thrashed, but a sense of occasion is just not part of the deal.

Look at the Clio V6 with more of a subjective eye and it really makes sense. You get a good sounding V6 engine, so when you turn the key or press the loud pedal you get that grin that only a 6/8/12 can give you. You get the engine in the middle, so you are going to have to treat it with care and respect, no just lobbing it into every corner and letting the benign basic handling trait sort you out. Then you get the buzz of mid engine rear drive. Playing the throttle against the weight transfer / loading / traction. Not just a lift off to correct if you get it wrong. So your drive becomes involving in a way that has had mid engined exotica selling for years.

So yes, a standard Clio 182 may well be similarly quick, but in many other respects the V6 is going to be so much more.

Well put 'Chris GB'.

I dont know if they sorted the handling on the phase 2's (I think they did) but weren't the phase 1's fond of killing people - or at least throwing them through hedges!!

The suspension was completely revised for the Phase 2 V6.

completely changed the car and made it far less liekly to spin you off the road.

Well am driving it on Thursday am if i can get the right deal for me i'll be definately getting it.

Hi

Saw a race with phase 1s (a single make series) in the wet. Like watching a Havoc video, but with more crashes.

New shape is supposed to be well sorted.

Chris

They are an awesome car either way, They have that cult supercar status that will mean there always cool. People will look at a V6 Clio - No-one looks at any other clios!!

Was this the one with the turning circle of an ocean liner?

I like them.Look like exotica
