Injection amount deviation in replacement Injector

Featured Replies

Lads and Lassies, 1.6cr tdi threw an injector last weekend, so I installed a used injector in cylinder 4 as a stop gap to get me back on the road until I get a set of 4 new/refurbished ones to put in it.  Went into vcds to do the apatation, and low and behold it had picked it up already, must be because it is a used one I assume.

Anyway car is running a bit lumpy at idle when cold, and at low revs under load, so I ran a few logs and this is the only one that is sticking out.  All the voltages and capacity readings were in the ball park, the only one out is the injection quantity variance, as per the attached table of values.  1, 2, and 3 are all running about -0.5, but cylinder 4 is running at about +1.3.  I cannot for the life of me remember if there is a way to tell the injector to relearn by doing a soft reset or anything, whether the other 3 are compensating for the one that is out or what, my mind has gone blank.

Is there anything I can do to tighten this up, or am I stuck with it until I get them all replaced?

Thanks

Lennie

The injector needs to be coded in. You have to put the number stamped on it into VCDS. I don’t think it will pick that by itself. I presume at the moment is runnig with the number from old injector.

No its definitely got the number of the replacement one in already.  From what I have read up on this, with remanufactured or used injectors, they don't usually need coded, but brand new ones always do.  Peculiar but it is how mines is.  I had written down the adaptation code to key in but it was already there.  Checked the number on the injector I removed and it is different to the one in the system.
