The age old issue of mileage correction.

Featured Replies

I want to take about 30,000kms of my mileage as I lent my car to my son for a year, now before anyone starts this is a fabulous little car and we will keep it until it dies. Now We have to pay diesel tax and my son has not kept this up to date and he can't afford to do it and neither can we so before it has its next WOF (mot) and before we can use it on the road again we need to change the mileage. Any ideas other than not trusting a 19yr old to look after my car properly. He lived and worked on a farm so I didn't really get to see the car until he finished with it. I have tried a VAG K-can but did nothing.

Welcome.

What is the penalty you would get for falsifying the mileage if caught doing it,

and what would it be for the person doing it for you?

Is it 'simply clever' posting it on a forum even if you are in New Zealand?

A post note to lock It was locked for fairly obvious reasons.

Note for OP:

Although I've personally also used a 'truck' on a farm (UK) but we don't have mileage tax as such, but it wasn't taxed.

There must be a dept argi response for this, your son's not the only lad to use a car on a farm. How to prove they are all farm miles though, unless they are not in which case, sounds like paying it is the only option, somehow, then charge him for it. Good luck either way.
