Cutting out/drop off in power

Featured Replies

Hi,

Hoping someone can offer some advice or things to look at on my mk1 VRS Octavia 2003 with 87k on the clock.

car drives superb other than at intermittent times cuts out, engine is running but no power at all. Lift off the throttle and press again(seconds in delay) and it's off like nothing has happened. No fault codes are showing. I've already done the N75 and N710? Valve and solenoid as cheap try's but it still does it. Just been serviced and mot'd as well.

is it a mechanical fault? Or a mapping fault? Turbo? Really annoying because I can't get it to do it with a mechanic in the car!!

comments appreciated please.

@BrettM - This sounds a bit like the Throttle Position Sensor may be starting to play up.

Hi Ken,

That was one item I'd thought of but would it not throw up a fault code if faulty? If its a cheapish part to buy I may try this and rule it out.

@brettm - Yes it can be diagnosed with a good code reader, eg VCDS. Unfortunately it only comes with a new pedal, and costs ~£100+Clueless' Cut.
