Hill Hold Control holds even on normal surface

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have Pre FL Octavia 2 DSG and I recently upgraded by ABS from MK60 to MK60EC1.

I have enabled HHC and now every time I release the brake in stand still mode it takes 2-3 seconds to release the brake, this is fine if I am on slope or steep but it happens also on normal surface.

Works fine if HHC is disabled.

I tried setting HHC to normal and low but no change in behavior.

This is my ABS logs.

No fault code found.

did you perform basic setting for sensor for hill hold?

needs to be done on level ground

Just as a humorous side note...

When I first got my Octy I thought it had HHC.

Turns out the handbrake was binding!

I didn't.

I will try this out.

Thanks.

Thanks Eddie problem solved :)

Just 1 question is HHC suppose to work even while coming down from slope?

And I have coded ESP defeat but long press or short press only toggles TC. How to toggle ESP?

Hill hold works when the front of the car is facing downhill, only with reverse gear selected.

Thanks Eddie.

Any suggestion on ESP defeat?

How do you do this using VCDS?

Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (G251)

Note:

  • The Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (G251) is only present cars with All Wheel Drive (AWD) and/or Hill Hold Control (HHC)

Prerequisites:

  • System voltage at least 12.0 V.

[Select]
[03 - Brake Electronics]
[Measuring Blocks - 08]
Group 006
[Go!]
Check field 4, the value has to be between -1.5 and +1.5 m/s².
[Done, Go Back]
[Security Access - 16]
Enter 40168, to enable the basic setting.
[Do it!]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 069
[Go!]
After a successful basic setting, field 2 should say "OK".
[Done, Go Back]
To make sure the basic setting was successful, check the sensor again.

Thanks for the quick detailed reply Eddie

A member wants me to code his 2012 Superb for hill hold next weekend. Whilst I can do this by coding the ABS module Byte 16 (provided his module supports it which I will not be able to check until I scan the car) I was not sure whether I needed to perform a basic setting for the sensor. Am I correct in assuming that I will not have to go through the Acceleration  Sensor setting process unless I the hill hold operates on level ground or is it a good idea to do it anyway?

If his ABS supports it and you code it, then you will need to do the basic settings on level ground

Thanks Eddie, that is very helpful.
