reliable car sub 3k thats got good mpg

Featured Replies

right people im after some ideas on reliable cars sub 3k that can return good mpg that wont loose the rest of their value over night and have generally low running costs :)

ta very much :D

older Golf TDI? circa 1997 or earlier? A 3k car will lose money though. The cheaper/older you go, the less they actually lose overall. :)

What other things should this car be capable of?

starting would be a good thing too ooh and stopping lol

i just want a car to get to work and back in as cheaply as possible

i use the girlfriends ka at the moment and im sure it isnt getting over 30mpg !! and its not the nicest to drive i get bad back ache in it

Corsa 12v 1.0.

Very basic, super cheap to run and insure, cheap tax, cheap tyres, get one with 30k miles and you wont loose much more over a year than you would with any other cheap car.

Fabia Sdi? Several on Autotrader for that sort of price - admittedly its not the most exciting car in the world but does tick most of the boxes you mentioned. If you want something bigger, also several Oct TDis for that sort of price on Autotrader with 75kish on which is nothing much

Re: losing money - I reckon if you get a Fab SDi for about

beeftec if i can save money on the car to get to work i can spend more on a fun car and it can have less seats :D

Sounds like a good plan :)

I'd recommend a petrol engined Focus.

P or R Passat TDI might even get a 110hp version for around 3K .....

Mileage might be in the starship range but it should keep going....

Or

Mondeo 1.8 TD or Petrol...

City Rover (Don't laugh) a brand new one for

Don't go French ot Italian if you want reliable - look at all the surveys

My son has just got a V reg Seat Toledo for less han

Coming from experience, I'd avoid the B5 Passats if it's cheap motoring you're after. They've got a growing list of known problems and few are cheap to fix - believe me. :(

A Furby SDi or TDi seems logical - an older one could be quite cheap (the tdi's fetch a lot more and are thin on the ground, though). Good economy, insurance etc. etc.

My choice if I didn't care about performance: Fabia SDi estate - I know a lot of people don't like the estates but I had one for a day and they're great!
