Front Grille Damaged

Featured Replies

My wife hit a pheasant and it has left a neat hole in the centre of the front grille.  Speaking with my local dealership, they want in excess of £300 for a new grille and bumper, apparently you can not purchase the grille on its own.  I have looked on eBay for a grille but I don't seem to be able to get one that will fit our car.  Can someone please help me identify the correct model of our car?

The V5C states the following:

Varient: 5E

Model: Octavia SE L TDI 4X4

Body Type: Estate

CC: 1968

However, the listings on eBay do not list a SE L TDI 4x4.  Also, I'm not sure if I should select the Mk III Estate or the 5E5 Estate variant.  Either way, the eBay listings say that the item will not fir our car.

So, would the SuperSkoda Octavia III front grille in honeycomb fit our car?

Thanks.

The SE L Tdi 4x4 is just an Octavia so the grille fits - all Mk3 Octavias, of the same year, have the same grille. The Facelift is different to thr previous but there are no differences based on the trim, engine, or gearbox / drive

Strictly speaking the grill comes as part of the bumper, but any pre fl grill will fit if you can get it, just reattach the Scout badge and you’re done :)

or, as yours isn't a Scout, just fit the grille. I bought one from an eBayer from Eire, it arrived and is clealry a brand new Skoda OE part - part number and Skoda emblem moulded in and it hasn't been fitted and removed from a car. Yet to fit but it is a plastic glue job - once you have removed the bumper!

Indeed it’s not a Scout! I just read 4x4 and then typed out Scout. Any grill will do though :)

Go take a look on super skoda they have honey comb sport grille.

As stated, it's plastic welded to the bumper. It can be done, but requires cutting the old and re-welding/bonding in the new, this will be the same for fitting the Superskoda one.

You may very well end up breaking the chrome surround when removing it, so factor in replacing that as well. You could use it as an opportunity to change it for a black surround...
