Bulb error and dim tail light after CECM change 2010 Octavia FL

Featured Replies

Hi.

A few weeks ago i changed the central electronics control module on my wifes Skoda Octavia 2010 FL Estate after it hade died.

After the change i get a bulb warning on the 3rd break light without it being broken and the tail light are very dim + i dont get the full C shape, i miss the bottom half of the C on both sides.

I copied the coding from the old module but what i believe is the issue is that the new module is from a used Golf i suspect that Byte 18 is different from the old original module, and since Byte 18 is masked with 00 i cant take the old coding and apply to the new module.

So does anyone know what i should put in as coding on byte 18?

The car is located in Sweden and is left hand drive if that matters

The car is equipped with the following

Ambiente package

Halogen Low-Beam

Halogen High-Beam

Halogen Side light

DRL is the Low-Beam

No fog light

I have now tried to put the old module back in the car and now I have the full C in the tail light and at the correct brightness. The bulb warning is also gone, but since this module is broken I have the front right indicator always illuminated so I can't use this module.

I am now pretty sure it is the byte 18 who is making my life difficult.

I'm not sure if any byte 18 is correct for the Octavia.

Instead, you should use ODIS-e or VCP to correctly configure the lighting configuration. As your old module is mostly working, you can copy it from there.
