Hi!!!

My name's Russ (bet you couldn't guess that from my username ;) ) and yesterday I put a deposit down on an Octavia Estate

2014 registered 2.0tdci Elegance, it's got 76K miles on it but from what I've been led to believe about these engines it's barely broken in.  I've asked the dealer to change the dealer to change the timing belt as there's no history of it being done (from what I can tell it should be every 4 years or 40K miles?)

It's a bit of change from my 55-plate Focus estate (2.0tdci) and before that I had an X reg Focus estate (1.8 petrol) so my first venture away from the blue oval.

I'm a bit (well actually a lot) of a car cleaning geek so I can't wait until the weather's a little nicer and I can get out and machine polish the whole thing (from what I can tell it's been through car washes it's entire life).

Well fancy bumping into an ex-FFOC'er on here :)

I'll hopefully be picking the new car up on Saturday.... snow permitting lol

Hello Russ welcome along to the Skoda forum you've made a good choice .B)

Welcome Russ:hi:.  Great choice as a replacement for your current car and good call on the timing belt...better to be safe than sorry!

Thank you :)  I phoned two dealerships yesterday afternoon who advised 5 years or 120K, I've scoured the net (and as much as I can on this site) but information seems really limited.

The 4 years 40K seems to be older information relating to pre-2009 cars.  The garage are going to do a visual inspection on it, it's got 6 months RAC warranty too so I'll see what they say.  I'll probably look at getting it changed later in the year when it's 4 years old anyway, I'm not one for maxing out limits, especially for the sake of a few hundred quid.

Thank you, I'm hoping I've made the right choice :)

I've only heard/read good things so far so hopefully I haven't bought the exception ;)

Good news today...... advertised my Focus on Facebook at around 13:00, sold it for full asking price at around 18:30 and probably could have sold it four times over (perhaps I should have put it up for more )

Just waiting for the loan to come through now :)
