Maybe someone wiser can explain it...but surely telling the ECU that the air is a different temperature won't make any difference at all, it's only if the air actually *is* cooler that it'll perform better?

Well, if it essentially just overfuels the engine, then it would provide gains as described in that link...so there is potential for it, just a question of weighing up pros and cons...
