Depreciation - cash or PCP. Has it stabilised?

Featured Replies

Don't own a Citigo/Up but have to concede their popularity... generally and in my local area, where they're a common sight (both the Skoda and the VW) - likely due to a well regarded local dealer who collect and deliver for servicing etc.

When I was interested in comparing them to the Hyundai i10 (that I finished up buying), fellas here were bemoaning the dramatic drops in values,  either with cash buys or with PCPs there was concern that they were losing disproportionately unreasonable sums of money in three years.  Clearly it's generally reckoned the first three years will see the most dramatic losses but has anything changed in recent years to make the Citigo/Up look more attractive than blokes were making it appear then?

Dieselgate....

Buy a new one keep it 3 years and try selling for cash money not trading in and the depreciation is quite a high percentage.

Buy one for £11,000.  keep it 8 years and it might still be worth a couple of grand to someone,

or just keep it another 2 years.

A Hyundai i10 / Kia Picanto is pretty much the same, not expensive and keep over 5 years and do not bother about depreciation.

I bought a Suzuki Jimny automatic 15 Years ago for £11,000 and it has done 55,000 miles and i can still get £2,000 selling it.

(A new one similar with a 18 plate is available for under £15,000,  again that is very rare with vehicles...)

Not many cars are like that for low depreciation, Mk1 Fabia vRS are.
