Door lock module replaced, but problem!

Featured Replies

I had the door lock module replaced on my mk1 due to interior lights, puddle and dash light not coming on.  The module is now swapped and they do come on now, however when unlocking the door from the drivers side (i have to use the key itself due a pre existing issue with the central locking fob), all doors do not unlock and its as if I have to manually raise the drivers door with the key.

The solenoid does open and close using the drivers side interior door control...but not the key.

Also the locking pin does not to see to travel as far as the original and would be flush with the door when closed...any ideas guys 1f603.png

Anyone? :)

When you lock module, do you mean the drivers door lock mechanism?

If the pin isnt lifting enough, it could be the bar isnt seated properly in its slots or isnt quite lined up correctly and is under pressure, which in turn is transferring that pressure back to the key,  while the motor (using internal lock switch) is overcoming said pressure.

Maybe?

Sorry, forgot about this.  I think the pin not lifting enough could be due to a different/shorter solenoid on the chinese replacement.

I have to unlock the door manually with resistance from the internal motor and then unlock the other doors with the switch on the drivers door, its very odd...

Did you make sure to count, accurately, how many rings the pull cable for external door handle sat on before and after the change?

When i did mine, i was off by 1step and the lock wouldnt release because the cable being out of line stopping the bolt releasing. Could be worth double checking that?
