Is the phone and phone box supposed to get hot.  I am finding the hand set gets really hot.

Yes, it can get very hot in there, even if you are not using the wireless charging. I find that on long journeys where I'm streaming music via CarPlay the phone will get so hot it will go into a 'protect' mode until it cools down

It felt scarily hot to me.

my htc phone doesn't have wireless charging, but sometimes it gets very hot in the phonebox.
other times cool as ice.

 

connected via usb or not - tis hard to figure out a pattern.

What models come with phone box as it was not an option for my to add it on with my superb plus
