Octavia Air Con

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I have a 2004 Laurine & Klement  Octavia and today I tried the air con by pressing the down temp button on the electronic climatronic panel until the display read "LO" only to find hot air still blowing out of the vents, even after some 5 minutes. I'm not sure if its related but some two weeks ago the passenger heated seat failed ( drivers seat OK ). I've checked and there's no 12 Volts getting the seat heating element but due the the weather I've not investigated further.

I've looked in the owner's handbook which shows fuse 5 ( seat heaters, climatronic, air flaps and multi-function steering ) fuse 44 (heated Seats) and  fuse16 (Air con ) and all are OK. The climatronic panel does seem to direct the air to either the foot wells or vents and varies the fan speed.

Also does anyone know where I can obtain a wiring diagram for the model, please?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Geoff.

@Geoffb57 - That sounds like a mechanical problem inside the air mixer, which is stopping the hot air feed flap closing off properly.

Hi Geoff,

Please see the below link to previous post.

Not sure if will solve your issue, however for what it's worth.....

Possible Climatronic Fix....

Hope that you get to the bottom of the problem :)

Might be a silly question, but did you press AUTO on the panel? Are both radiator fans working? Is the compressor switched on an running? If there is no or low gas pressure it won't kick in.

What was the temperature outside?

The Climatronic things can be a bit weird and think they know better than you... ISTR something about it not blowing cool if the outside temp is below a certain value... 4ºC, or something. The actual AirCon part will still be working, conditioning the air and so on, but it blows warm if it thinks it's cold enough outside to require heat.

Hi Folks, Thank you all for your valued comments. Due to my wife driving the car last week I've not been able to fully test again until now.  Fortunately the air con now seems to be working fine, I'm not sure if I was me trying to set the temp. before the climate control software had settled down or the outside temp. was above 4 deg. as your comments suggested but it now seems to be behaving itself.

Thanks once again for all your comment.

Best regards

Geoff
