Hello from Scotland.

Hi every one.

I got me an old Octavia: W reg (2000) SLXi estste 1.8 20v turbo.

I am new to Skoda, in fact, this is my first VAG car, dedpite running old bangers for years I have never even driven any of the VAG cars!

It came with a years MOT and no advisories.

I have to say, I like it. It feels kinda solid and well planted.  Soaks up the bumps without being too squishy, and I like this engine lots.

It's not mint, sure isn't going to win any beauty contests and there are a few niggles to sort, but there's no rust issues and all the oily bits seem to be operating properly.

Only downside is that the clutch started slipping on the way home. It wasn't the end of the world though, a flendly local mechanic fitted a new one for an outstandingly good price and all is well again.

Welcome to the Briskoda family.

I am like you, always bought cheap bangers, I've had 4 Skoda's to date, a 120, a 130, an '02' Octavia 1.9 sdi, £300 with 234,00 on the clock and only 1 owner [ex taxi] it was scabby but bullet proof and was faultless driving down to Southampton from Dundee, returning an avg 52 mpg. I sold it and bought a Roomster 3 1.9 tdi. All the extras and a very decent car.

Somethings will always go wrong, mine was the perennial electrics, now fixed. Overall I prefer the Octavia.

God luck with yours

Paul
