Boot release mechanism stuck

Featured Replies

Hello, new to here and recently got a 2012 1.6 TDI estate  which is my first Skoda, done a few thousand miles on it and still runs lovely despite 110K on the clock, however I’ve been away from it for about 6 weeks and the boot release has stopped working. I have searched for similar threads but I don’t think it’s an issue with the motor unit as when I use the emergency release and pop the boot, then press the button under the number plate the motor works ok and can see it moving. It just fails to work when I close the boot.

I did spray a load of t80 or whatever that line spray is and it worked fine for about 5 minutes but has stopped again. I’m guessing it needs some grease or oil but not sure where to put it or what is seizing up

Can't help with the solution but would be interested to know where you found the emergency release.

I have the identical car but the emergency release shown in the handbook is not present.

Essentially you have to go in to the boot compartment via the backseats and where it locks there is a black tap on the right hand side that you flip up with the car key or a flat instrument which will release it

I have had a good look at mine just now and there is no tab that I can find. Is it possible for you to post a photo of yours. Thanks.

Mine was first registered in March 12. Perhaps mine was one of the last and they ran out of  correct boot lid trim!
