Does a secondary air intake work only on cold start? if you had a dodgy thermostat or temperature sensor would they make it kick on and out when the car is warm? It's only I've noticed latey that my one kicking in when the car has been running for a some time.

It will run when hot for a few seconds at a time if idling in traffic for a while, this is the system just checking the pump is still operational when the duty cycle is requested.
