Weird product on plastics - how to remove?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I've picked up an Octavia Mk 3 and notice that the filler cap and the ice scraper as well as some other plastics is covered in this horrible gunk which is almost impossible to remove....or is it?

Thus far I've tried AG car shampoo, normal soap, vinegar, AG tar remover and even AG bird wipes!!

Nothing seems to shift it. Perhaps it has burned into the plastic...but it looks like you could scrape it off with something sharp but of course doing this would end up damaging the plastic.

Can you recommend anything for me to try?

Looks like it's been cleaned frequently with a strong TFR - something like solution finish will help.

I wouldn't put it on the rubber of the ice scraper though, I wouldn't want to risk it getting onto the glass.

Thanks, might be better just to ditch it and start again then by the sounds :)

I was thinking that, you could spend hours sorting that out and not get it much better.

I would say its a strong TFR product which has been left in the sunlight.

Before you bin them try some glass cleaner/IPA to see it shifts it.
