Radio refit nightmare!!

Featured Replies

If I ever meet the idiot that designed the radio/heater facia!!!!

I decided to remove the broken photo clip so I could potentially 3D print a better one as a phone holder.

First off,  the remaining part of the clip dropped into the radio aperture so I had to fully remove the radio to retrieve it.

Then came the nightmare getting the radio back. It took two of us about 20 attempts to get the multi-plug cable to drop back into the dash cavity, the loom is very rigid  and prefers to coil up behind the radio preventing the radio seating all the way back in the space. Even with a long thin screwdriver teasing the cable back into the cavity there's still the hazard switch that wants to drop down and wedge itself behind the radio facia.

Finally there's the four recessed torx screws that retain the heater controls. One slip and they drop into the dash.

Not sure I can be bothered taking it out again if I do create a phone bracket.

Pete
