Replacement mirror glass, standard type?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

ordered a new wing mirror glass and backing plate for my drivers side. The previous owner had just glued a new mirror over the top of an old shattered one. Looked quite crudely done and old shattered glass is still visible.

Anyway, the glass came with the wide angle line down the mirror. What I want to know is which is standard for the MK2 Octavia VRS facelift?

Here is an image to show the style I received. Bit of an odd question I know but I want to fit whichever was standard on the car so if it didn't have the line/wide angle part I would look to fit that version.

Thanks :)

Actually I am just going to fit this version anyway. Seems a good idea in all honesty.

Still, what is standard for drivers side and passengers side?

The standard is wide angle drivers side and normal on the passenger side. That's what I have on mine.

All MK2 Octavia's had the wide angle mirror on the drivers side, once used to it, it's a brilliant thing to have, really good on motorways i have found.

Not true, the L&K with auto dimming/heated mirrors is a regular single angle mirror.

I own an L&K and it has a wide angle mirror fitted at factory, and only fitted on the offside, the auto dimming mirror is the interior mirror and all octavia mirrors are heated. The L&K is the top spec model so had all the goodies, the VRS is the sport's model of the range.

If yours has a single angle then it's a replacement glass.

My old Elegance had a wide angle mirror and that was a 2007 pre FL model.

I beg to differ, I have a 2006 L&K and all 3 mirrors are auto dimming.

I think that was the last year of the auto dimming exterior mirrors, from then onwards they were dropped presumably due to cost..
