Skoda octavia 18 plate grinding noise (metal to metal)

Featured Replies

Hello there just wondering if anyone can help, I have an 18 plate Octavia with 1338 miles on the clock, yesterday I was driving round a roundabout and I heard this loud grinding sound coming from the front somewhere, I carried on driving then happened again when driving at low speed, any idea folks?

Thanks in advance

Grit in your brakes?

Like mumphie says, sounds like something has either got into a brake caliper, or a brake pad or retaining clip has worked loose somehow. Try reversing the car to see if it teases any grit out. If that doesn’t sort it, head to your dealer.

UPDATE, Skoda roadside have been out and turns out it was a stone in the brakes, he said its a very common thing for every make car, thanks for the replies on this.

Glad it’s fixed, nothing worse than a noise you can’t make sense of.

Unfortunately, even when driving around in a new car, you're always on the lookout for off sounds and bumps...!
